I’m on holiday now!

After waiting for more than 2 months I’m finally on my adventure holiday - off to a sailing trip around the Whitsunday Islands.

I’m sitting in Brisbane airport while writing this. I’ve been working out how to do things quickly and conveniently, in regards to blogging about my holiday and sharing photos that I take. I’m using my iPad instead of a laptop, so it’s just a little less functional than what I’m used to, but at the end of the day I think it’s quite a lot better - if you set it up properly.

I’m going to do status updates in Facebook about my holiday, sharing what I’m doing as I’m doing it. I’ll transfer photos from the camera to the iPad using a camera connector, using it as my photo storage device, and upload the best of them to Facebook each day (except for the 3 days I’ll be out on the Great Barrier Reef, as I don’t expect any mobile broadband reception out there).

When I get back home at the end of the holiday, I’ll transfer all my photos to Picasa, my standard online photo album site, and I’ll also collate all my Facebook updates and turn them into daily blog posts, comprised only of the updates. For the days that I’ll be out of reception range, I’ll just keep the updates as notes and put them into the blog at the end of the week.

I think that could turn out to be quite a nice idea.

What do you think?
